Ban Thai Tha Bo is a charming guest house resort a few minutes outside Tha Bo, on the way to Si Chiangmai. It is about half an hour's drive from the border town Nong Khai, known because of the "bridge border" to Laos.

Ban Thai Tha Bo is owned and operated by Nick Sotavongse, a young Thai-American who fell in love with Tha Bo and the countryside. Nick runs this fine resort together with his family and some friendly local Thai staff.

Ban Thai is a lovely, traditionally styled wood buildings with gardens, located on the banks of the Kheuan Huay Mong River, 500 meters away from the mighty Mekong. One can gaze across the vegetable fields from the wide veranda of the main building at Ban Thai to the river. Flowers, birds and butterflies are profuse. There are six resident cats.

In addition to simple relaxation, Ban Thai is located conveniently near the local market, temples, along with several excellent promenades and bicycles routes. By local bus, one can visit the border town of Nong Khai where you can see the "Friendship Bridge" between Thailand and Laos and the "Buddha Park". Stroll along the Mekong and the Indochina Market there. Located at approximately a 30 minute drive from Tha bo is the Phra Phuttahabaht Bua Bok park with prehistoric paintings and 9-11th century religious sites.
